What is Final Expenses Insurance? Do you need it?

man kissing woman on check beside body of waterYou don’t want to think about death, yet it’s something we will all face one way or another. When you pass away, you want to make things easier on your family. Helping them plan for your funeral and other final expenses is a way to ease the burden. One of the ways to assist your survivors is to provide them with final expenses insurance. What is this coverage? Do you really need it?

Some people don’t realize the full cost of final expenses. Nevertheless, they could prove a financial challenge for your survivor. Leave behind a safety net by investing in final expenses insurance today.

What is Final Expenses Insurance?

When you die, think about some of the costs you might leave behind. These might include final medical bills and a few unpaid debts. Most importantly, your family will now face the cost of a funeral. Today, those costs can easily reach into the thousands of dollars.

You want to be able to afford the costs of a funeral, burial or cremation. You also want to make the financial loss of your death a little easier on your family. You can do that with final expenses insurance. Like with a life insurance policy, this coverage can provide a near-immediate settlement. That can ease survivors’ financial burden. These policies might even prove a better fit for some consumers compared to traditional life insurance.

Do You Need Coverage?

You might not feel you need a full-fledged life insurance policy. Perhaps you have enough financial assets, and only want to leave a smaller sum to your family members. Or, you might not even qualify for traditional life insurance. In these cases, you might find final expenses coverage a better fit.

  • As opposed to life insurance, final expense coverage usually only pays a small sum. Most max out at around $50,000 to $100,000 in coverage.
  • Most final expenses policies do not have medical exam requirements. They also usually offer stable premium costs. Thus, they might prove much easier to get for those who cannot qualify for life insurance otherwise.
  • These policies do not have terms. Therefore, you can keep them indefinitely.
  • You can use the money within a final expense policy for any purpose, not just funeral costs. So, if you have debts, medical bills or other losses, you can often pay them off.

Not all final expense policies are the same, and restrictions on coverage will exist. Therefore, it’s up to you to work with an insurance agent to determine one’s benefit to you. Don’t hesitate to contact one of our agents to assistance right now!
